Dhanbad, January 13: Dhanbad Public School (DPS) secured third place in the team competition while their two students won a bronze medal in the boys’ and girls’ individual competitions at the CBSE National Yoga Championships at Mount Abu School, New Delhi bagged.
Remarkably, a total of 128 CBSE schools from across the country participated in a three-day mega annual competition that took place from January 9th to 11th. The team returned to Dhanbad on Thursday.
In addition, a five-man team from DPS Dhanbad consisting of Pratik Kumar, Yuvraj, Piyush Agrawal, Anubhav Sharma and Ayush Sharma had put in an excellent performance but missed out on gold and silver medals. They did, however, secure third place in the under-19 boys team championship.
In the girls under 19 individual competition, Dhanbad Public School’s Ankita Sharma and Dipika Kumari stole the show with their superb performance but had to settle for a bronze medal.
Physical education teacher Shashikant Pandey said it was the third consecutive year that the Dhanbad team had demonstrated outstanding yoga at the All India CBSE National Championships. The school team had similar results in 2019 and 2022. Due to Covid the CBSE National Yoga Championship 2020 and 2021 was not organized.

DPS selections for the National Championship were made based on their performance from the East Zone. Meanwhile, Principal Sharda Mahajan, Governing Body President Shambhunath Agrawal, Secretary Anil Agrawal and others congratulated all the players and wished them a bright future.
